Rubrik adds to security options

Enhancements to Rubrik’s cyber resilience solutions are said to improve ransomware preparedness, as well as allowing faster response and recovery.

Rubrik‘s new threat hunting capabilities include API driven integrations with products including Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSOAR for easy identification of compromised data, helping to identify the last known clean copy.

Other improvements include multi-factor authentication enforcement, expanded sensitive data discovery, improved protection for Azure SQL and AWS S3, low-cost daily snapshots for Azure VMs and AWS EC2, protection for Microsoft 365, improved protection for SAP HANA, faster recovery of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, and support for Nutanix AHV for faster backups.

“Recently, organisations have been targeted more frequently by highly sophisticated cyber attacks that exploit vulnerabilities in legacy backup products, forcing a ransomware payment,” said Rubrik president Dan Rogers.

“With these new advancements, IT and security teams are able to better protect their enterprise, cloud, and SaaS environments and more quickly recover from cyber attacks without paying the ransom.”

The update will be available in the coming months through the Rubrik partner network. The Cortex XSOAR integration will also be available through the Cortex XSOAR Marketplace.

In related news, Rubrik announced Rubrik Cloud Vault, a secure and isolated cloud archival service.

Built on Microsoft Azure, Rubrik Cloud Vault reduces the risk of data being modified, deleted or encrypted, and maintains immutable and instantly recoverable copies of customers’ most-critical data.

“Ransomware attacks pose an increased danger to every business around the world, regardless of industry,” said Rogers.

“This is a key milestone in our commitment to integrate Rubrik Data Security capabilities with Microsoft to deliver Zero Trust Data Security to global enterprise customers.”

Microsoft Azure vice president of storage engineering Jurgen Willis said “Enterprise customers are looking for comprehensive and multi-layered data protection to be cyber-resilient.

“Rubrik Cloud Vault combines Rubrik’s Zero Trust Security with fundamental security and reliability features of Azure Blob Storage to provide customers with a valuable solution for addressing ransomware threats, as well as a secure platform to protect, and deliver accelerated recovery to their most important digital assets.”

Rubrik Cloud Vault will become available in the coming months on the Azure Marketplace.
